workshops

Aside from YouTubing, I’m also an educational technologist specializing in video pedagogy. I offer workshops for educators, independent researchers, and/or faculty on the three central themes described here.

A facilitated workshop is about 1.5 hours long (in-person or via Zoom).

the academic influencer: leveraging youtube and social media

“Academic influencing” is a powerful form of public service and a way to advance your academic career. Whether you’re an up-and-coming scholar or seasoned veteran in your field, the world is changing—are you ready?

video production for educators

The “cost” of video production prevents many from creating their own educational videos. In this workshop, I deconstruct the idea of “high quality video” and outline what video production equipment should be prioritized. The goal is to convince participants that they don’t need to purchase anything! In fact, the actual “cost” of video production is about time, not video production equipment.

video pedagogy: translating academic texts into everyday language

My YouTube journey began with the belief that any academic text—no matter how complex—could be reworded into everyday language. In this workshop I present participants with three guiding principles for creating engaging educational content that is both theoretically nuanced and accessible to a non-specialist audience.
