just call me mike

I identify most as a ‘teacher’ & ‘public academic.’ I’m also a Mexican American linguistic anthropologist.

I have a one-eyed, deaf & blind pug named Vinnie Paul. He is the goodest boy.

I’m a photographer and musician.

I’ve had my red beard for over 10 years. It has, however, been many other colors, including blue, purple, and pink. Eventually, I settled on red.
